This unusual house plant, Castanospermum, is native to coastal rain forests and beaches in the east of Australia and to the Pacific islands of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. It is an attractive plant with a large “bean” visible at the base, a long green/brown stems and bushy foliage growing in a crown at the end of the stem.

How to care for your castanospermum

Water: Water regularly once soil feels dry.

Light: They like moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight.

Humidity: Regular humidity levels are sufficient. 

Temperature: They enjoy warmth, about 20 degrees C.
