In our mission to reduce waste and create a sustainable business model in an industry traditionally filled with waste, we have partnered with Sarah Gerrard Jones, a.k.a @theplantrescuer to offer Plant Rescue Boxes.
As online sales of plants have grown, so do the ever-increasingly large number of plants that get discarded when they no longer look 'perfect'. Often plants that are perfectly healthy but cosmetically damaged or have some past damage from pests or cold issues on shipping, have to be removed from sale. As Sarah puts it 'Most of us agree that throwing away vegetables because they’re wonky shouldn’t be an acceptable practice, and yet there are houseplants being discarded on a massive scale for the same reason.
So what is a Plant Rescue Box?
We'll be offering two main types, a rescue box, and an imperfect plant box
With our rescue boxes, you can give plants that would be destined for the bin a second chance. Inside each box will be plants that have some form of cosmetic damage or issues which means we can't sell them normally. It may be cut leaves, cut tops, shipping damage, past fungal issues, etc. These plants tend to be at around 70% discount on their retail price.
With our imperfect boxes, we fill these with plants that have some cosmetic damage on their journey to us. These are generally in better condition than the rescue box but not in the condition we would sell them at full price. These are normally 35-50% discounted on retail price.
In both boxes, the plants are discounted to reflect their condition and are non-refundable, but with proper care, many will thrive. We do guarantee that any damage from pests or fungal/cold issues will be treated, so you will have no issue whatsoever with bringing something unwanted into your home.
What's Included?
Inside the box, you'll receive plants worth at least 1.8-2x the box value (for imperfect) and 2.5-3x value (for Rescue Box). That might be made up of 1 or 2 larger plants or a number of smaller plants.
The contents are a mystery but we can confirm there will be some exciting inclusions.
Examples (but the list is nowhere near exhaustive) of some of the plants you might find:
Houseplant Box: Alocasia stingray, Begonia escargot, Pilea norfolk, ZZ supernova etc
Rareplant Box: Philodendron Florida Bronze, Philodendron Glad Hands, Alocasia chantrieri, Philodendron Gloriosum Dark Form, Philodendron atabapoense, Philodendron lupinum, Philodendron fibraecataphyllum, Monstera sp Ecuador, Anthurium Silver Blush, Philodendron Melanochrysum etc.
Special Rare Plant Edition: Cyrtosperma sp, Anthurium hybrids and more. This is the very special box!
Not only are the boxes a good way to help reduce waste in the industry, but we'll also make sure they're a good opportunity to add some new interesting species to your collection.
Care Instructions
Each plant requires slightly different care, but it's best to not over-care for them. Ideally keep each plant slightly moist, in bright indirect light, if you have a place with more humidity, like a bright bathroom, a kitchen, or a space with a humidifier, this will be best to ensure you give the plant the best possible chance to thrive. Please don't cut the plant or repot for at least a week after arriving to minimise stress.
Please note: Due to their nature, these boxes are not refundable. We may not always have these in stock and will periodically add stock as and when we have enough plants to fill boxes. If you order multiple boxes, you may recieve duplicate plants as we can not always guarantee enough diversity of stock.

Loved this! Photo says it all. Included in photo is the separate purchase of the Monstera Deliciosa Thai Constellation - 11cm (Rescue). They barely need any rescuing, mostly just a leaf here and there. Fantastic bargain. Delivered speedily and very well packed.
The plants that arrived in this double rescue pack, I bought were absolutely lovely, packaged amazing. Normally I end up with soil all over! Haha but it was all packed so well.

Oh wow! What an amazing suprise ! I got 4 beautiful babies an alocasia green dragon, philodendron white wizard, philodendron gloriosum and a hemigraphis snow white . Only 2 of them had a damaged leaf, otherwise practically perfect in every way ! I cant wait to order the next rescue/imperfect box ! Thankyou House of Kojo/grow tropicals !
Very happy with my rescue box, I bought the houseplants imperfect box and I received a prayer plant, an alocasia frydek and a philodendron birkin pink. The prayer plant is the one that looked “worse” of the bunch, but I’m not too worried as it has some new growth already. Very minor leaf damage on the philodendron. Overall happy with it!

I’ve missed out on the rescue boxes a few times, but it was my lucky day when I looked at the website, and found one rescue box left! It arrived really well protected as usual. There were three plants in the box, and I only had one repeat of a plant I already own. So far everyone is still looking healthy. I’ll be back for another rescue boxes soon.

A couple are a bit rough but they have plenty to work with and a bit of care and patience will bring them back to full strength. There's just one that's quite sad looking and more than a bit rough, hopefully the right light and water will pull it round. I am hoping to save it and it is certainly better off with me than ending up in the bin because it is unsellable. As always the packing is simple and brilliant meaning nothing is damaged in transit. If you fancy taking a chance on the rejects then buy them as I know you will love them.

Great discount box and opportunity to buy normally pricier plants that need a little looking after. Plants were much larger than expected and a nice variety.
This was the fist time Ive ordered from here and the rescue box was amazing , I received 3 gorgeous plants and they were all in excellent condition and packed really well , Thankyou House of Kojo I think I now have a plant hording problem because Ive ordered some more .

Really happy with my rescue box! I received 3 amazing plants an alocasia macrorrhiza variegated plant, a labisia turtleback and a big warocqueanum queen anthurium. Very good condition as well. The alocasia macrorrhiza variegated, as lovely and healthy looking as it is, it is root bound in the clear pot so will need a little tlc and repotting.
Perfect. All three were perfect. Not sure why they were in the rescue box?
This is my 1st time with one of these boxes, and I must admit I was very pleasently surprised, I got 3 lovely good sizes plants that did not look imperfect to me, I've had a lot worse plants sold as perfect from different sellers. I got a Syngonium, a Ctenanthe and a china doll not what I would normally buy , I dont' hold out much hope for the china doll, I've had 2 already, and they didn't survive long so I am giving it to my mum in law, at least it will have a chance with her. The Syngonium will be ok , they love being in self watering pots, will probably put the Ctenanthe in one as well, so all is good.
