In our mission to reduce waste and create a sustainable business model in an industry traditionally filled with waste, we have partnered with Sarah Gerrard Jones, a.k.a @theplantrescuer to offer Plant Rescue Boxes.
As online sales of plants have grown, so do the ever-increasingly large number of plants that get discarded when they no longer look 'perfect'. Often plants that are perfectly healthy but cosmetically damaged or have some past damage from pests or cold issues on shipping, have to be removed from sale. As Sarah puts it 'Most of us agree that throwing away vegetables because they’re wonky shouldn’t be an acceptable practice, and yet there are houseplants being discarded on a massive scale for the same reason.
So what is a Plant Rescue Box?
We'll be offering two main types, a rescue box, and an imperfect plant box
With our rescue boxes, you can give plants that would be destined for the bin a second chance. Inside each box will be plants that have some form of cosmetic damage or issues which means we can't sell them normally. It may be cut leaves, cut tops, shipping damage, past fungal issues, etc. These plants tend to be at around 70% discount on their retail price.
With our imperfect boxes, we fill these with plants that have some cosmetic damage on their journey to us. These are generally in better condition than the rescue box but not in the condition we would sell them at full price. These are normally 35-50% discounted on retail price.
In both boxes, the plants are discounted to reflect their condition and are non-refundable, but with proper care, many will thrive. We do guarantee that any damage from pests or fungal/cold issues will be treated, so you will have no issue whatsoever with bringing something unwanted into your home.
What's Included?
Inside the box, you'll receive plants worth at least 1.8-2x the box value (for imperfect) and 2.5-3x value (for Rescue Box). That might be made up of 1 or 2 larger plants or a number of smaller plants.
The contents are a mystery but we can confirm there will be some exciting inclusions.
Examples (but the list is nowhere near exhaustive) of some of the plants you might find:
Houseplant Box: Alocasia stingray, Begonia escargot, Pilea norfolk, ZZ supernova etc
Rareplant Box: Philodendron Florida Bronze, Philodendron Glad Hands, Alocasia chantrieri, Philodendron Gloriosum Dark Form, Philodendron atabapoense, Philodendron lupinum, Philodendron fibraecataphyllum, Monstera sp Ecuador, Anthurium Silver Blush, Philodendron Melanochrysum etc.
Special Rare Plant Edition: Cyrtosperma sp, Anthurium hybrids and more. This is the very special box!
Not only are the boxes a good way to help reduce waste in the industry, but we'll also make sure they're a good opportunity to add some new interesting species to your collection.
Care Instructions
Each plant requires slightly different care, but it's best to not over-care for them. Ideally keep each plant slightly moist, in bright indirect light, if you have a place with more humidity, like a bright bathroom, a kitchen, or a space with a humidifier, this will be best to ensure you give the plant the best possible chance to thrive. Please don't cut the plant or repot for at least a week after arriving to minimise stress.
Please note: Due to their nature, these boxes are not refundable. We may not always have these in stock and will periodically add stock as and when we have enough plants to fill boxes. If you order multiple boxes, you may recieve duplicate plants as we can not always guarantee enough diversity of stock.

The plants I got in this box were absolutely stunning!! I got an anthurium warocqueanum, a huge anthurium clarinervium and a beautiful rhapidphora tetrasperma! All beautiful plants some had broken leafs but once I cut those off you wouldn’t even be able to tell!
A beautiful Maidenhair fern, a lovely Adiantum and the only one that needs rescuing is the Blectrium. I’m delighted with the contents.
I was so excited opening this mystery imperfect box and I'm blown away. The plants are stunning and great quality with only a little damage to one or two leaves (which took quite some time to find)

Great quality plants - I got an asparagus fern, a beautiful dark anthurium with roots bulging of its pot, and a pot with multiple baby monstera plants inside. All packaged in eco friendly cardboard rolls and safely delivered.
Nothing interesting hope they survive . A lot of money for 4 tiny plants

Love what I got in my first Rescue Box. . . a Hawaiian Palm, Scindipus Treubii Moonlight (i think?) and an Alocasia Sanderia Nobilis. The palm was on my wishlist so I'm delighted and I'll be able to take a load of propagations off the Scindipus.
All were really well packed and arrived promptly as always. Unfortunately the Alocasia flopped and the single stem broke but I've still got the corm to try and grow. Happy Days :u1F970:

I loved this experience because you don't know what you're going to get. I bought a mini mystery rescue box and sadly 1 out of the 5 didn't make it, but the other 4 were great and plants I didn't own. They do need some care but that's understandable considering I'm buying a rescue box. Will definitely be buying another mystery one again for the surprise and challenge.

They barely need any rescuing, mostly just a leaf here and there. Fantastic bargain. Delivered speedily and very well packed.
The plants that arrived in this double rescue pack, I bought were absolutely lovely, packaged amazing. Normally I end up with soil all over! Haha but it was all packed so well.
Received my houseplant rescuer box today and I’m so impressed. For £15 I received a good sized Monstera, a lovely big philodendron and a gorgeous Alocasia (my faves at the moment, so I was extra happy about this). They are in surprisingly good health given my expectations were I would be receiving sickly plants that needed a lot of work. I am so very happy with my purchase, and I’ll definitely be grabbing another soon!
