'A Nice Day For A Green Wedding' at RHS Malvern Spring Show 2025🏅🌿

We're at RHS Malvern Spring Festival this week with Emma Angold from @GoodGrowing

Her Gold medal-winning display, Nice Day for a Green Wedding, uses houseplants in place of floral bouquets, proving that houseplants don’t just belong on your shelf; they can be part of life’s biggest moments too. Plus, they can be reused time and time again as opposed to cut flowers.

Every plant in the display has been carefully chosen to represent a quality that helps love grow. Emma walked us through just a few of her choices:

Money Tree (Pachira aquatica)

The Money Tree is traditionally seen as a symbol of prosperity, good fortune, and financial stability, which is perfect for couples starting a new chapter together.

Its braided trunk beautifully represents two lives intertwining, promising shared growth and a strong foundation.

Pilea Peperomioides

The Chinese Money Plant is known for bringing luck and positive energy to any space, making it the perfect planty favour for wedding guests.

Also known as the Friendship Plant, Emma cleverly used them as eco-friendly alternatives to disposable trinkets, each one a living reminder of the day, offering the newlyweds’ well-wishes of abundance and joy.

Palm Tree

Long revered in ancient cultures as a tree of life, the Palm is a symbol of peace and abundance, just the kind of energy you want in married life.

Their graceful fronds and tropical air added elegance and calm to Emma’s display, creating an effortless nod to natural beauty and enduring love.

Monstera deliciosa

Nothing says “bold love” like the iconic Monstera. With its luscious, heart-shaped leaves and striking silhouette, it stands for longevity, honour, and the kind of love that stands the test of time.

In Emma’s vision, it celebrates couples with deep roots those honouring heritage, culture, or simply the stories that have shaped them.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)

Elegant, calming, and a favourite among Feng Shui lovers. It’s said to cleanse the energy of a space. 🕊

In the wedding setting, it symbolised peace, serenity and togetherness, offering a breath of stillness amidst the joyful chaos. The large white blooms were complimented by many visitors too!

Boston Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata)

Feathery, fresh and full of sentiment, the Boston Fern stands for sincerity and shelter, the warm hug of the plant world, if you will.

Emma used these trailing beauties in overhead chandelier arrangements, giving guests the feeling of dining beneath a soft green canopy. A true fairytale moment, with fronds.

We're over the moon to have played a part in bringing Emma's vision to life at the Festival of Houseplants this year at RHS Malvern.

Whether you're planning your big day, hunting for a thoughtful gift, or want to bring a bit more heart into your home, these plants are far more than decorative. They’re symbolic companions, whispering quiet encouragement for every new beginning.
