Brighamia insignis
Brighamia insignis or the Hawaiian Palm is as the name suggests native to the islands of Hawaii. In the wild, it's critically endangered but due to it's commercialisation is now available in large quantities. Despite the common name of Hawaiian Palm, it isn't infact a palm and is instead a succulent type plant with a large bloated stem, topped with a rosette of leaves. It may also flower in your care with beautiful yellow flowers held on long flowering stalks.

Beautiful little tree , mine has a baby ! I put it straight in a terracotta pot. The roots are in wonderful health. So I put it in a mix of lava, pumice, zeolite, coco and wormcastings. Hoping it'll fill out with more leaves. I put it under my Pianta grow lights, seems happy so far.
Love this plant. Looks prehistoric yet also like a bran newly created plant. Lots of leaves and so vibrant. I hope I can get flowers but if I don’t still love the shape and colour of the leaves and bark
My experience of these is not great, I have had before and they haven’t survived! This one arrived in good condition but some leaves turn yellow fairly quickly and now she is sitting directly under a grow light. I will not give up!

It’s a beautiful plant, but within 48 hours, all the outer leaves were turning brown. Took immediate advice from the Planta team. Have done everything suggested in terms of light and care, but more and more is turning yellow/ brown and dying off. So obviously feeling quite sad/disappointed.
Very unusual and a stricking plant
Arrived really quickly. Wrapped and protected well with a heat pack because of the weather. Really pleased. Will shop again.
